A Note from Patricia King: Have you ever wondered where the term "Xmas" came from? Do you believe that someone who wanted to take "Christ" out of Christmas created it? Then read this article by our own Rob Hotchkin.                                                                        Who Put the X in Xmas?

As the Christmas holiday is fast approaching, an annual event is beginning to take place. And no, I don't mean the exchange of presents, roasting chestnuts on an open fire, or office parties. I mean the rallying cry of many who say, "Let's keep 'Christ' in 'Christmas!'"

This time of year is a wonderful opportunity 2 C the whole world rejoicing over how our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ manifested in the earth so all people could be restored 2 relationship with our Heavenly Father. And just as when the wise men came 2 focus on the newborn Savior and lavish Him w/their attention and gifts, I believe w/all my heart that Jesus Christ should be the focus of the Christmas holiday today. I enjoy all the decorations, all the carols, and yes, even all the gifts. But I C each of them simply as an opportunity 2 celebrate Him who has given the greatest gift of all – our salvation! He is worthy of all worship. Christ is truly the reason 4 the season!

Having said all that, u may be surprised that I occasionally have abbreviated Christmas by writing "Xmas." Recently I wrote a promo email 4 our ministry making mention of "Xmas." Some wrote responses 2 let us know that they did not appreciate the use of the abbreviation "Xmas." In their mind, it took the "Christ" out of "Christmas." I love and appreciate anybody who is willing to stand up for our Jesus, so I was grateful that these folks took the time 2 share their concerns. You may be one who also feels that the abbreviation "Xmas" is a secular attempt 2 take "Christ" out of Christmas. But u know what? The term "Xmas" seems 2 have an origin that is actually all about Christ.

Xmas is All About Christ

The third century Church used the Greek Letters Chi ("X") and Rho ("P") – the first 2 letters in the Greek speaking of the word "Christ," and sometimes "X" by itself 2 represent Christ. In religious art of the Renaissance and Medieval periods it was quite common 2 C these intertwined letters "X" and "P" in
paintings of Christ. It is believed that this is the origin of the use of the letter "X" in "Xmas."  Online encyclopedia articles explain more:

The word "Christ" and its compounds, including "Christmas," have been abbreviated in English 4 at least the past 1,000 years... "Christ" was often written as "XP" or "Xt"... This X and P arose as the uppercase forms of the Greek letters χ and ρ used in ancient abbreviations for Χριστος (Greek 4 "Christ"), and are still widely seen in many Eastern Orthodox icons depicting Jesus Christ. The labarum, an amalgamation of the 2 Greek letters, is a symbol often used 2 represent Christ in Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox Christian Churches. 

The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) and the OED Supplement have cited usages of "X" or "XP" 4 "Christ" as early as 1485. The terms "Xpian" and "Xtian" have also been used 4 "Christian." The dictionary further cites usage of "Xtianity" for "Christianity" from 1634. According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of English Usage, most of the evidence for these words comes from "educated Englishmen who knew their Greek."

The historical use of "Xmas" then seems 2 have been 2 represent and even recognize Christ as the focal point of Christmas – since anyone who would have used the term "Xmas" would have known Greek and known the "X" was 4 "Christ," not a secular replacement 4 Him. So the "X" in "Xmas" was not an attempt 2 take Christ out of "Christmas," but simply another way of honoring and recognizing Him. The challenge, however, comes in these modern days when the term "Xmas" is still used even though not everyone is aware of the Greek roots of the usage of "X, "XP," and "Xt" 2 represent "Christ."

I love Christ. And I love having Christmas be all about Him – the Savior, King, and Lord of all! I say let's keep "Christ" in "Christmas" – and in "Xmas" – by keeping Him in our hearts and our minds as we share His love, light, and truth w/all those around us!

Having the ability 2 discern in the realm of the spirit is crucial 4 true, anointed Spirit-led ministry. When we accurately discern we are able 2 flow in a higher dimension of supernatural power and authority, transforming people's lives all around us.

                           Overcoming Spirits of Infirmity

Let's look at detecting the influence of the demonic in cases of physical illness. We C very clearly in Scripture that there are times sickness is caused by natural infirmity and at other times it is caused by demonic oppression. Discerning of spirits will reveal when the root of an infirmity is spiritual. Such was the case in Luke 13:10-13:

On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for 18 years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, He called her forward and said 2 her, "Woman, u are set free from your infirmity." Then He put His hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.

We C 2 things operating in this Scripture. First, the woman was bound by a spirit, a demon of infirmity, who afflicted her physical body 4 eighteen years causing her 2b bent over. Jesus was able 2 discern the presence of spiritual affliction thru the power of the Holy Spirit and took authority over it. In this particular case, He didn't even directly confront the demon. He just said, "You are set free from your infirmity." The moment He said that the demon had 2 leave.

Then, the Bible says, after she was released from the spirit of infirmity, Jesus laid His hands on her and healed her deformed body. We can C that she was still in need of physical healing even after the spirit left her bcoz she was still bent over. The effects of the demonic oppression over her back and muscles needed 2b healed. After casting off the spirit of infirmity He ministered healing 2 her body by the laying on of hands.

First Jesus ministered deliverance thou the discerning of spirits and then He ministered divine healing. We C both deliverance and healing operating together here. To have an effective healing ministry u must also operate in a deliverance ministry. Jesus did both, and at times we will need 2 as well.

We also  this principle of deliverance and healing operating together w/the boy who suffered from convulsions. In Luke 9:42 Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child and then restored him 2 his father:

Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him 2 the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the impure spirit, healed the boy and gave him back 2 his father.

Jesus did 3 things in His earthly ministry. He preached repentance, healed the sick and cast out demons (Mark 6:12-13). We can also operate in the fullness of His ministry today.

                                                 Dealing with the Spirit of Trauma

I remember a few years ago when I gave an altar call 4 those who needed healing in their bodies. I was praying at the altar in a Spirit-filled Methodist church in Georgia and there was a 93-year-old man that came forward 4 prayer w/his 91-year-old wife. This is an example of where the gift of discernment is crucial in ministering healing 2 an individual. He couldn't stand up too well so he sat in a chair up at the altar. His wife was sitting next 2 him and a person was in front of him praying 4 healing. I looked over and suddenly my spiritual vision opened and I could C what looked like a small black ball on the back of his neck and head. It was a demon.

I walked over 2 him and put my hand on the back of his neck. Instead of screaming, "Come out!" I calmly, but w/authority said, "In the name of Jesus, let him go." As God gave me authority over it, I commanded it 2 loose and instantly this man looked up at me w/wide eyes. He didn't know what was happening. With tears streaming down his face he said, "What's happening 2 me? The pain is all gone!"

I then asked him, "What happened 2 u?" He said, "A year ago I fell over a suitcase in my house and hit my head on the ground. I've had nonstop pain in my head and I haven't been able 2 sleep 4 a whole year."

This situation calls 4 understanding on how the enemy operates thru spirits of trauma, not only in the emotional realm but in the physical realm as well. When there is a traumatic experience the enemy can try 2 take advantage of it. Sometimes when someone experiences a trauma, such as a car accident or injury, a spirit of infirmity can attach itself 2 the point of trauma, extending the period of pain much longer than it should be. This demonic attachment can hinder the natural healing process and prolong sickness in a person's life.

This applies 2 both physical and emotional trauma. I have seen people suffering from the grief over a lost loved one years after the loss occurred. There is a natural grieving process, but eventually healing occurs. When a spirit of grief or trauma attaches 2 the emotional wound the pain is prolonged 4 a much longer period of time. When u discern the spirit of trauma u then have authority 2 cast it away, bringing freedom and healing 2 the person who was afflicted.

How the Spirit of Infirmity Attaches Itself

This is what happened 2 this older gentleman. He got into an accident and a spirit of infirmity took advantage and attached 2 his natural injury. This does not always happen, but in this case it did. He didn't just need a healing prayer. When people were praying 4 his healing, he wasn't being healed. But when I received a spiritual discernment of his affliction, God's power set him free and then healed him. What he needed first was a deliverance prayer thru which the demonic oppression was taken authority over and cast off. The moment it was taken off, he was healed.

Then I looked and saw hearing aids in his ears. I said, "Take out those hearing aids." I laid my hands on his ears and took authority over the deafness. Some deafness is a natural loss of hearing and needs healing while other deafness is caused by a spirit of deafness. In this case it happened 2b a spirit of deafness. I took authority over the spirit and commanded it 2 leave.

His eyes got really wide again as he looked at me and said, "I feel something being pulled out of my ears!" And pop! Both of his ears instantly opened. The spirit of deafness was pulled right out of his ears. At 93-years-old both ears popped open. Some people say, "Oh, you're just getting old. You lose your hearing and sight. It just happens." No. You can be healthy and strong until the day God takes you home 2b w/Jesus.

This 93-year-old man received healing in his head and both of his deaf ears popped open. Then I turned 2 his wife and I noticed she had a hearing aid. I said, "Take that hearing aid out." Her ear popped open and she leaned over 2 her husband and said, "Well honey, I guess we're not going 2 have 2 scream at each other anymore. We can actually hear each other now." They had 2 scream at each other their entire married life. But they were newlyweds married only one year!  It's never too late 4 anyone.

Special Note on Eyes: 7 Foods 4 Better Eye Health

Apricots:  Trouble seeing at night? Maybe some apricots are in order. Apricots are rich in beta carotene, a carotenoid that the body converts 2 vitamin A. And research shows beta carotene may help w/night vision -- and possibly even play a part in preventing cataracts. Peanuts are a good source of vitamin E, a nutrient known 4 protecting eyes from free-radical damage. Vitamin E may also hinder the progression of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Almonds, sunflower seeds, and hazelnuts are other good sources of vitamin E.
 

Salmon has two types of omega-3 fatty acids -- docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) -- both of which may be important in preventing or slowing down eye diseases. A lack of omega-3s may also contribute 2 dry eye syndrome. Other omega-3 sources include tuna, sardines, walnuts, and flaxseeds.
 

Whole Grains: A recent study suggests that a low-glycemic-index (GI) diet may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) by almost 8%. One way 2 quickly lower the GI of a meal? Use high-fiber whole grains instead of refined carbs. Think quinoa, brown rice, whole oats, and whole-wheat breads and pasta rather than products made from refined grains or refined, enriched flour.

The Answer 4 A Guilty Conscience

Hebrews 9:14 - how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot 2 God, cleanse your conscience from dead works 2 serve the living God?

Have u heard the voice of your conscience saying things like, “You deserve hell for the sins u committed against your wife three years ago” or “Why are u surprised that your child is not talking 2 u? You were never around when he needed u”?

You know, there are people who feel depressed all the time bcoz of a sense of guilt, and they “pay” for their sins in terms of illnesses. In fact, doctors are discovering that many psychosomatic sicknesses are caused by guilt and condemnation bcoz the conscience is saying, “You have done wrong. You must be punished. How can your sin not be punished?”

That is why u must have an answer that will satisfy your conscience. When your conscience says, “You have sinned. You must be punished for this sin or else God is not a just God,” u say, “Yes, I have sinned. But this sin and every other sin that I have committed were punished 2 the maximum in the body of Jesus Christ! So there remains no more punishment 4 me today, 4 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot 2 God, cleanse my conscience!”

My friend, the only way 2 bring peace 2 your conscience is 2 look 2 the cross. The cross of Jesus is the only answer that will satisfy your conscience.

So the next time your conscience condemns u bcoz of sin, don’t try 2 silence it with your good works. Look 2 the cross and say, “Father, thank You 4 Jesus and the cross. Jesus was totally condemned on my behalf 4 this sin, so there is now absolutely no condemnation left 4 me.” Then, your conscience will look at the cross and say, “Ahhhh... peace.” My friend, Jesus’ finished work at the cross truly sets u free!

Encouragement 4 SEP

Introduction: Everyone has those moments when we are silent and quiet in our soul; When we stop from being so busy 2 really Q what is important. Being busy is not always the answer, bcoz being busy does not mean we are productive, just that we are passing our limited days of our life. It is the 'maintaining of life' only, yet many folks get lost in the Big Forest and get stuck on the Trees [details]. Yet once in a while we come 2 our senses and step back, and C the Big Picture of things.  These devotionals bring that Hope and Encouragement when we need 2 find our answers.
                   Remembering that God has read our Book; The Chapters and Pages in our lives.. from page one 2 the last ... And all is well. When we think it is all over, God uses 'steps' of miracles 2 bring about our blessings that He has written in our Book, long b4 we lived it. He knew us b4 we were even conceived in our mother's tummy or were even a human in the glea of our Papa's heart. I come here often 2 remind myself.... when those Trees in my own Forest get me lost; To once again, find my way back home. Who but God can make all things work together 4 good 2 all those who love Him.. I do not know which page of my life I'm on, but I can feel a new Chapter about 2 begin as Summer's ending turns 2 Autumn's new hope...Praise God 4 always turning my page; bringing me new insight, so I can enjoy the beautiful Forest as well as each marvelous tree He created.  May u too; find something that inspires and brings hope 2 your life, whatever Season u may be experiencing...

01Sep  Perseverance Gets Results -Perseverance is the key 2 success in intercession. Laying down your life in prayer is necessary 4 God's Will 2b accomplished.   Demonic forces keep God's Will from being accomplished in people's lives. These forces must be broken down thru prayer so strongholds are destroyed and spiritual blinders are removed from the spiritual eyes of people.  God will not go against someone's will, but He will move thru your intercession 2 reveal Himself 2 them.  Persevere till u see results! 

Luke 11:8,9 - But I tell u this--tho he won't do it as a friend, if u keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give u everything u want--just bcoz of ur persistence.  v9: So it is with prayer--keep on asking and u will keep on getting. Keep on looking and u will find; Knock and the door will surely be opened.

02Sep   Go 4 Revelation Knowledge -  If u need something from God, determine right now that u are going 2 meditate on the Word 'UNTIL' u get a revelation. Knowledge that has been revealed directly 2 ur heart by the Spirit of God is called revelation knowledge.   The Word will 'light up' your heart if u meditate on it enough. It will absolutely revolutionize ur life.  Keep that Word b4 u until u receive a revelation of Jesus as ur Healer or your Deliverer or your Financier -- whatever u need Him 2b.  Don't settle 4 a shadow mental understanding of Him. Get a revelation!


2Peter 1:2 - Do u want  more and more of God's kindness and peace? Then learn 2 know Him better and better.

03Sep  God's Country  -  The next time u are tempted 2 look at situations in this country as impossible, remember 2 Whom it belongs.  This country belongs 2 God!  God Himself stirred the heart and mind of Christopher Columbus and planted within him the dream of charting a new course 2 the West. God brought Columbus 2 America!  He had a special purpose 4 America from the very beginning.  God needed a country where the Gospel could be preached freely and not suppressed.  Remember, God's purposes will be fulfilled in this country.  It belongs 2 Him!

Luke 18:27 - He replied, "God can do what men cannot!"

04Sep   Let God Be Glorified -  God is no respecter of persons.  His Word works 4 everyone. It's how it's received that makes the difference.  In other countries where people are not bound by religious traditions, they don't argue w/the Word of God.  They simply believe the messenger who tells them Jesus came 2 deliver them of sin, sickness and death.  They believe w/child-like faith.  When we learn 2 hear the Word of God like that, the same thing will happen 2 us.  God gets glory when the blind see and the lame walk and the maimed are made whole!   Don't let tradition keep God from being glorified.

Matthew 14:14, 15:30-31 - So when Jesus came out of the wilderness, a vast crowd was waiting 4 Him and He pitied them and healed their sick.  And a vast crowd brought Him their lame, blind, maimed, and those who could no speak, and many others, and laid them b4 Jesus, and He healed them All!


05Sep   Start Speaking Faith Now  - Speaking words of faith is good spiritual exercise.  If you will meditate on those words and continue 2 say them, the truth will begin 2 sink in.  They will take root in ur heart and begin 2 grow.  Eventually, u really will be speaking from the abundance of ur heart.  It takes faith AND words  put the law of faith in motion.  It's the words that come from the heart that produce results.  When that happens, it won't matter what u have been believing for, the devil himself won't be able 2 talk u out of it!
 
Matthew 12:34-35 - A good man's speech reveals the rich treasures within him. An evil-hearted man is filled w/venom, and his speech reveals it.

06Sep  Under Pressure?  Plant! - Jesus has the answer if u feel like u are under pressure these days.  You can give ur way right out from under any pressure the devil brings 2 bear.  Giving is always Jesus' way out.   Jesus compares the entire Kingdom of God 2 a SEED.  Every living thing on the Earth came from a seed.  When satan puts u under pressure, go 2 Jesus and let Him tell u how and where 2 plant.  If you will do that, the seed will grow up until it breaks the power of darkness and lack.  Plant ur Time, ..  ur Money, .. even ur clothes!  Put the devil under pressure 4 a change!

Galatians 6:7 - Don't be misled; remember that u cannot ignore God and get away w/it: a man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows!

07Sep  Strike It Rich  -  Are u tired of poverty hanging around u?  Let the truth of Galatians 3:14 grow in ur heart, "If ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE."  The reality of that verse can connect u 2 the power of God.  God has already redeemed u from the curse of poverty.  Deuteronomy 28 says, "You are Blessed in the city, Blessed in the country.  Blessed going out, Blessed coming in.  Blessed in ur barns, Blessed in ur fields, Blessed in all the works of ur hands. "  Put the blessing of Deuteronomy 28 in ur heart and say it w/ur Mouth  You will see the results of Victory in ur life!

Galatians 3:29 - And now that we are Christ's we are the true descendants of Abraham, and all of God's promises 2 him belong 2 us.

08Sep   Plant a SEED and Watch It Grow!  - If u are facing a need, dont panic...plant a seed!  God's economy is always the same and it always works perfectly w/o fail.  If u have good earth, good seed and good water, u are going to have growth.   Your seed may take the form of money or Time or some other resources u have 2 give. Just make sure u put life in it by giving it IN faith and surrounding it w/Praise and Worship.  Plant your seed and watch it grow!

Mark 4:30-32 - Jesus asked, "How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story shall I use 2 illustrate it? v31/32: It is like a tiny mustard seed! Tho this is one of the smallest of seeds, yet it grows 2 become one of the largest of plants, w/long branches where birds can build their nests and be sheltered."

09Sep  Exercise Your Rights - Once u receive Jesus as Lord of your life, all the rights and privileges God  originally intended u 2 have are restored.  Fellowship w/God, health and prosperity are restored.  But YOU are the one who has 2 exercise those rights!  The devil is an outlaw and even tho Jesus has taken away his authority in the earth, even tho he has no legal right 2 kill or steal from u, he will do it anyway--as long as u will let him get away w/it.  Resist the devil w/all you have got.  He will have 2 flee when u exercise your rights in the Name of Jesus!


Isaiah 53:5,6 - But He was wounded! and bruised! 4 our sins.  He was chastised /punished that we might have peace; He was lashed!--and we were Healed! v6: We are the ones who strayed away like sheep! We, who left God's paths 2 follow our own. Yet God laid on Him the 'guilt/iniquities' and sins of every one of us!

10Sep  His Still Small Voice - God has not given the Holy Spirit 2 just a few special Christians. He has given Him 2 u!  And if u will learn 2b sensitive 2 His Voice, He will guide u into all Truth.   Start tuning your ear 2 His still small voice within u. Think about how different your life would be if u knew the4 Truth of God about every situation.  You can be on the keen edge of what God is saying as u honor and welcome His guidance into your everyday affairs. Listen 4 His promptings and be quick 2 obey.  He is ready 2 speak 2 u now!

IJohn 2:27 - But u have received the Holy Spirit and He lives within u, in your hearts, so that u don't need anyone 2 teach u what is right. For He teaches u all things, and He is the Truth, and no liar; and so, just as He has said, u must live IN Christ, never 2 depart from Him.

11Sep  Don't Be Disturbed - When u make God your stronghold in the time of trouble, noone can overcome u.  God is on your side and that gives u the advantage.   Set your affections on the Lord. God's counsel will give u stability when all the world around u is shaking.  Evil tidings will not be able 2 steal your peace.  The thoughts of God will immediately rise up and rebuke the evil tidings from taking root in your heart.  If u are facing trouble today, do not be disturbed!  God's counsel stands forever.

Psalms 33:10,11 - And with a breath He can scatter the plans of all the nations who oppose Him, v11: but His own plan stands forever. His intentions are the same 4 every generation.

12Sep   Change the image - Look at the promises of God in the Word 'until' with your inner eyes--the eyes of your spirit--a picture is formed. It takes time 2 change an inner image.  Remember, it's faith that changes things, and w/o the inner image of hope, faith cannot work.  Go 2 the Word of God today and begin 2 change the images inside of u.  Change them from images of despair 2 images of hope.  Get a BLUEPRINT in your heart and your faith will build on it!

Romans 8:24-25 - We are saved by trusting. and trusting means looking forward 2 getting something we dont yet have --4 a man who already has something doesnt need 2 hope and trust that he will get it. V25: But if we must keep trusting God 4 something that hasn't happened yet, it teaches us 2 wait patiently and confidently.

13Sep   Real Intercession  -  The Lord is looking 4 people who are bold enough, committed enough 2 go 2 prayer 4 others. Real intercession is going 2 the Lord and going up against the devil on behalf of someone else.  The next time someone does u wrong, dont ask God 2 knock him in the head. consider the fact that God loves him enough 2 die 4 him and someone out there may be praying 4 his salvation.  So begin 2 pray 4 him instead of against him, uniting your prayer w/whomever else may be praying 4 him.  The next time u are tempted 2 clobber somebody, dare 2 change his life instead!

Isaiah 59:16-21 - He saw no one was helping u, and wondered that no one intervened.  Therefore He Himself stepped in 2 save u thru His mighty power and justice. V17: He put on righteousness as armor, and the helmet of  salvation on his head. He clothed Himself w/robes of vengeance and godly fury. V18: He will repay his enemies 4 their evil deeds--fury 4 his foes in distant lands. V19: Then at last they will reverence and glorify the Name of God from West 2 East. For He will come like a flood-tide driven by Jehovah's breath.  V20: He will come as a Redeemer 2 those in Zion who have turned away from sin.  V21: "As 4 ME, this is My promise 2 them, " says the Lord: "My Holy Spirit shall not leave them, and they and their children and their children's children forever."

14Sep   Take Correction  -  There is one thing u can do that will accelerate your spiritual growth more than almost any other thing: learn 2 take correction form the Spirit of God and from His people.  [Proverbs 1:7] says, "Only fools strike out at, or despise, correction."   When your pastor or anyone else in the Body of Christ has a word of correction 4 u, receive it gratefully. Appreciate those who share the wisdom of God w/u.  Make up your mind 2b teachable and receive correction.  You will be able 2 grow in spiritual things more quickly!

Proverbs 9:8-9 - If u rebuke a mocker, u will only get a smart retort; yes, he will snarl at u. So dont bother w/him; he will only hate u 4 trying 2 help him. But a wise man, when rebuked, will love u all the more. Teach a wise man, and he will be the wiser; teach a good man, and he will learn more.

15Sep   How's Your Spiritual Maintenance? - Have u become so entangled w/the affairs of this life that u find yourself becoming a 'maintenance man"?  It's possible 2 have 2 maintain so many natural things in your life that u dont have any time left 2 maintain your own spirit!   Natural things in your life can soffocate your spiritual life if u allow it.  When u find yourself in that situation, it's time 2 simplify your life.  Nothing is as important as spending time in prayer and in the Word w/the Heavenly Father!   So, if there's something u want in your life, ask yourself if u can spiritually afford it!

Mark 4:19 - ... all 2 quickly the attractions of this world and the delights of wealth, and the search 4 success and the lure of nice things come in and crowd out God's message from their hearts, so that NO crop is produced.

16Sep   Stand Up and Be Counted - Start praying now about the coming elections. Dont wait until election time is here b4 u start seeking God 4 whom 2 vote.   U are commanded 2 pray 4 your country and leaders.  But having prayed, God expects u 2 Act. The elections in the United States are vital 2 the future of this Nation.   Thank the Spirit of God 4 His Wisdom concerning 4 whom u vote.  Thank Him 4 giving u His wisdom 2 declare the Name of Jesus and declare that this shall be a God-indwelt, God-ordained, God-overseen administration.   So register. Pray, Vote.   Than stand up and be counted!

ITimothy 2:1-2 - Here are my directions: Pray much 4 otheres; plead 4 God's mercy upon them; give thanks 4 all He is going 2 do 4 them.  Pray this way 4 kings and all others who are in authority over us, or are in places of high responsibility, so tha we can live in peace and quietness, spending our time in godly living and thinking much about the  Lord.

17Sep   Be Courageous - If u are going 2 fight the good fight of faith 2 the finish, u will have 2 do just like Joshua did. U will have 2 continually draw courage from the Word of God.   Living a life of faith takes courage--courage 2 stand up in the face of sickness, 2 believe 4 prosperity when poverty is everywhere.  The battle of faith isn't fought only once.   If u want 2 keep living in Victory, u have 2 fight it again and again.   Bcoz Joshua obeyed the Lrod and meditated on His Word day and night, He found courage and was able 2 lead the Israelites into the Promised Land.   We 2 can be changed from a coward 2 an over comer.  Be courageous!

Joshua 1:7 - U need only 2b strong and courageous and 2 obey 2 the letter every law of Moses gave u, 4 if u are careful 2 obey every one of them u will be successful in everything u do.

18Sep   Why Did God Create You? - Dare 2 believe u are something really special today!   U are a one-one-of-a-kind creation made by God in His very own Image.   U were made 2 have fellowship w/God!   God made u so He could give His Love 2 u.  He does not want 2 dominate u.  He wants 2 Love u.  God wants  2 communicate w/u, 2 share His heart w/u.   Dare 2 receive God's Love today, and dare 2 Love Him back!

IJohn 1:3 - Again I say, we are telling u about what we ourselves have actually seen and  heard, so that u may share the fellowship and the joys we have w/the Father and w/Jesus Christ His Son.

19Sep  A Word About Angels - Angels are real!  If u are a believer, they are a vital part of your life.  You have a right 2 expect Angels 2 watch over u and protect u bcoz u belong 2 God! Angels are at work today just as they have always been.  They have not retired.  They have been at work down thru the ages taking care of God's people. Angels are not little fat babies w/long blonde hair and bows and arrows in their hands. They are big, strong warriors!  God's promise 2 u is that your Father has given u Angel(s) 2 watch over u-- so dont be afraid, stand fast!  You will be watched over and kept in all your ways!

Psalms 91:11-16 - For He orders His Angels 2 protect u wherever u go. V12: They will steady u w/their hands 2 keep u from stumbling against the rocks on the trail.  V13: U can safely meet a lion or step on poisonous snakes, yes,even trample them beneath your feet! V14: For the Lord says 2 u, "Bcoz u love ME, I will rescue u; I will make u great bcoz u trust in MY Name  V15: When u call on ME I will answer, I will be w/u in trouble, and rescue u and honor u.  V16: I will satisfy u w/a full life and give u MY Salvation."

Special Note:  It is amazing 2 read these words above even as I type them, but even more amazing is that just last night b4 I even read today's Devotional, God's Love 4 me thru His Angels was at work!

Testimony:   I was sitting on the couch watching a movie 2 unwind and relax after a long hard week. It was a weekend and I thought 2 just get some snack and drink and enjoy some rest. Half-way during the movie, I looked over 2 my left at my pillow on my couch beside me, and I saw a SCORPION walking on my pillow, just a breathe away from my left arm! At first I feared as is natural, but all of a sudden, peace filled me and I got up, and took the pillow slowly 2 the table and took a boot and killed the scorpion, what was amazing it that the scorpion was angry bcoz it opened it's arms where the claws were, I did not hesitate 2 kill it.

I was tired after the movie but kept thinking about the scorpion, FEAR returned as I tried 2 sleep, thoughts raced thru my mind, and I could not sleep due 2 fear that I did not fear the scorpion, but where and how and what was going 2b nearby me again. What if I had not had the lamp on, I thought and are there more of them, and HOW did it get in my home and couch? I prayed asking God 2 forgive me that I put the movie over stopping and reading my Bible, even tho I HAD prayed, still that fear was persistent.

As I woke up today and found this day's devotional, I could not help but cry tears of Joy as well as disappointment in myself. O God I prayed, thank You 4 always protecting me!

How often we do not put God in His proper place! First place in all we do and think! What a lesson today is even 4 me, the one writing this 2 encourage others have felt Papa-God's Love first-hand! Amen Lord!

20Sep   Time 2 Get Serious -  When the devil launches a serious attack against your body, dont hesitate.  Get serious about the Word.  Put yourself under its constant care and it will take care of u.   There are times
when u will have 2b downright extreme about the Word of God.   U may be facing a sickness so severe that u will need more than just a few moments in the Word and a quick prayer 2 receive your healing.   U have 2b serious about the Word of God if u are going 2 live in Divine health!   Continually consider Jesus UNTIL thoughts of Him push the thoughts of that sickness right out of your mind!

Psalms 63:1,6 - O GOD! How I search 4 You! V6: I lie awake at night thinking of You--of how much You have helped me--and how I rejoice thru the night beneath  he protecting shadow of Your wings.

21Sep   Unity of Faith - It's time 2 walk in Love.  It's time 2 walk in the unity of the faith.  To be truly powerful in the Kingdom of God and 2b a real threat 2 the real enemy, the devil, NOT people, u have 2 walk in unity w/other members of the Body of Christ.   Refuse 2 fall prey 2 division and isolation.  U are not an island unto yourself.  U cannot do anything w/o affecting other members.  The Body of Christ is held together by God and one another.  The Body must grow up together as one Family unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Ephesians 4:11-13 - Some of us have been given special ability as apostles 2 others He has given the gift of being able 2 preach well, some have special ability in winning people 2 Christ, helping them 2 trust Him as their Savior, still others have a gift 4 caring 4 God's people as a shepherd does his sheep, leading and teaching them in the ways of God.  V12: Why is it that He gives us these special abilities 2 do certain things best?  It is that God's people will be equipped 2 do better work 4 Him, building up the Church, the body of Christ, 2 a position of strenth and maturity;  V13: until FINALLY we all believe alike about our Salvation and about our Savior, God's Son, and all become full-grown in the Lord -- yes, 2 the point of being filled full w/Christ.

22Sep   A Little Every Day - There is no such thing as an overnight success in the Kingdom of God. Real strength and real growth come as u consistently and constantly keep the Word b4 your eyes, in your ears and in the midst of your heart.   Make up your mind 2 begin  the daily process of constant growth today.  Determine 2 start putting the Word in your heart consistently.  A seed planted in the ground doesnt spring up in full growth overnight.  It grows constantly, 24 hours a day.  Your faith can be bigger than u ever dreamed it could be as u meditate daily in the Word and Act on it 'regardless of how u feel!''

Luke 13:18-19 - Now He began teaching them again about the Kingdom of God:  "What is the Kingdom like?" He asked.  "How can I illustrate it?  V19: It is like a tiny mustard sed planted in a garden; soon it grows into a tall bush, and the birds live among its branches.

23Sep   Rekindle the Fire - Have u grown lukewarm toward God and His Word?  Has the fire inside of u dwindled into a little flicker 4 the things of God?  There is an answer.  Rekindle the fire!  God's Word says 2 draw near 2 Him and He will draw near 2 u.  Delight yourself in His Word.  Whatever has been stealing your time away from His Word must be removed.  Become diligent again.  If u will give your attention 2 the things of God, soon your desire 4 God will increase.  Pray in the Spirit again.  Believe and Act on the Word.  That all-consuming fire can be yourse again!

James 4:8 - And when u draw close 2 God, God will draw close 2 u.  Wash your hands, u sinners, and let your hearts be filled w/God alone  make them pure and true 2 Him.


24Sep   God's Will is Liberty - It's time 2 take up where Jesus left off and set the captives free. God wants people free.  If u could put the will of God into one word, it would be liberty-- liberty from sins and sickness, poverty, oppression, and every other curse.   The Father's will is accomplished here on the earth through u.  Jesus said u would do His works and ever greater!  He has given u the Holy Spirit 2 empower u 2 do His will.  so quit questioning the will of God and start carrying it out.  His Will is Liberty!

2Corinthians 3:17 - The Lord is the Spirit who gives them life, and where He is there is freedom [from trying 2b saved by keeping the laws of God].

25Sep   Move Closer Every Day - Right now, make a decision  give yourself 2 the things of God. Abiding  in Jesus isn't something that comes automatically.  It's a life-style that involves discipline and effort.  In this natural world, u are surrounded by ungodliness. U live in a body that is totally natural.  Unless u purposely counter that with daily prayer and time in the Word, your body and your mind will simply give in 2 the pressures around u and go the way of the world.  U have 2 choose 2 give yourself 2 God, 2 give Him first place.  Move closer 2 Him today.

John 15:5 - "Yes, I AM the Vine; u are the branches.  Whoever lives in ME and I in him shall produce a large crop of fruit.  For apart from ME u cannot do a thing."

26Sep   Let Your New Man Out  - When u made Jesus Christ Lord of your life, u became what the Bible calls a "new creature."  [Inside], you are no longer the same person u were b4. U now have the 'Nature' of God born into u.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, u can let the new nature inside u take over the outside as well.  It wont happen automatically.  U have 2 make a 'decision' 2 bring your body into obedience 2 the new man within u.  The Holy Spirit will give u the power 2 put sin out of your life and under your feet.  Then the new man inside u will begin 2 come out! You will notice it here and there and be amazed at the beautiful perfected areas of your personality and awe.

Romans 12:1 - And so, Dear brothers, I plead w/u 2 give your bodies 2 God. Let them be a living sacrifice, holy--the kind He can accept.  When u think of what He has done 4 u, is this too much 2 ask?

When I think about not being able 2 take my next breath, coughing so much that I gasp 4 that next breath again, that alone makes me think of all the good He has done 4 me, and all that I am not even aware of, it makes me thankful and tearful at times in my private moments of thought.

27 Sep   Spiritual Armor 4 Spiritual War - Are u blaming circumstances and people 4 the problems u are having?  Dont waste your energy fighting natural conditions.  There are super-natural powers 2 go 2 war against!   Ephesians 6 says that it's not a battle of flesh and blood, but of the spirit.  Satan is the prince of the power of the air.  "The air" (the heavens around this Earth which is the atmosphere surrounding this planet) is where wicked spirits operate.  Put on your spiritual armor and wage war against the evil powers that try 2 defeat u!

Ephesians 6:12 - For we are not fighting against people made of flesh & blood, but against persons without bodies--the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings & great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; & against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world.

28Sep   No Burden -  God knows what it takes 2 live in Victory in this present evil world.  His ways are not burdensome or oppressive.  Rejoice when He tells u something.   It's 4 your good bcoz He loves u so much!  The people of this world cannot tell u how 2 live Victoriously.  They dont know how. But God does!  He can make things work, even in the middle of darkness; and if u will follow His Instructions, Commands, and Precepts from His Word, u will know how 2 live in Victory.  God's ways are NOT a burden 2 u.  They are your Success and Victory!

I John 5:3 - Loving God means doing what He tells us 2 do, and really, that is not hard at all; 4 every Child of God can obey Him, defeating sin and evil pleasure by trusting  Christ 2 help him.

29Sep   Dare 2 Decide -  God has an inheritance 4 u, but He is not going 2 stuff it down your throat.  He has given u a truth from His Word that will revolutionize your life IF u will pay attention 2 it, but the choice is yours.  God has given u the right, the Privilege and the power 2 DECIDE.  He has provided the power, His Name, the Blood of Jesus and His Kingdom, but u have 2 decide 2 receive it.  How? Just simply say in your heart, "I receive it", yes it's that simple.  If u make a decision 4 God,  He will back u 2 the hilt w/His power!  There is no devil in hell big enough 2 stop u once u make up your mind 2 believe u can.  Dont let fear hold u back.  Make a quality decision 2 go 4 God.  It is your choice!

Exodus 8:10,11 - "Do it 'tomorrow', " Pharaoh said "All right," Moses replied, "it shall be [as u have SAID]; then u will know that there is no one like the Lord our God.  V11:  All the frogs will be destroyed, except those in the river."

Proverbs 4:20-23 - Listen, Child of Mine, 2 what I say.  Listen carefully.  V21: Keep these thoughts ever in mind; let them penetrate deep within your heart,  V22:  4 they will mean real Life 4 u, and Radiant Health.

30Sep   Compassion in Action - Jesus has sent u 2 reach out and touch a Love-Starved World w/His compassion.  That is the one thing people need more than anything else in the world. They need someone 2 reach out 2 them w/the compassion of God!   Let God activate the compassion within u by spending time w/Him.   U will begin 2 feel what God feels about the suffering of mankind.   Follow Jesus' example.  He met man's need by the power of God bcoz He was moved w/compassion 4 them.   Stir up the compassion within u until the desire 2 C others set free becomes paamount in your thinking.   U can be His compassion in Action!

Matthew 9:36 - And what pity He felt 4 the crowds that came, bcoz their problems were so great and they did not know what 2 do or WHERE 2 GO 4 HELP. They were like sheep w/o a Shepherd.

Fear Nots for 31 Days

Day 1 Fear Not: the Lord, Creator and Savior, calls you by name to say, “You’re mine!”

“But now, this is what the LORD says – he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine’” (Isaiah 43:1).

Day 2 Fear Not: Come to Jesus with tiresome burdens to rest in his care as you work with him

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Day 3 Fear Not: the Shepherd is with you to train you to find comfort in him

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).

Day 4 Fear Not: Don’t be anxious – instead pray, ask, give thanks, be guarded by God’s peace

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

Day 5 Fear Not: Jesus’ way is to simplify: Don’t worry.  Be like the birds and flowers.  Seek God.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important…? Look at the birds… your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow…. Will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?… But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:25-34). 

Day 6 Fear Not: The fear of the Lord alone is the beginning of wisdom, not the end

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding” (Psalm 111:10a).

Day 7 Fear Not: God’s perfect love (which often comes through people) removes fear

“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another… There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love” (1 John 4:11, 18).

Day 8 Fear Not: the Lord wants to hold your hand and help you

“For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you’” (Isaiah 41:13).

Day 9 Fear Not: God wants to set you free from fear by being a Daddy to your inner child

“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption and by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father’” (Romans 8:15).

Day 10 Fear Not: If we live in the Lord’s light and salvation we need not fear any threat

“The LORD is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear?  The LORD is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?… Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident” (Psalm 27:1, 3).

Day 11 Fear Not: When you fear the Lord you discover that he is a compassionate Father

“As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him” (Psalm 103:13).

Day 12 Fear Not: Fearful hearts need encouragement to put hope in God’s help and justice

“Say to those with fearful hearts, ‘Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you’” (Isaiah 35:4).

Day 13 Fear Not: Give up all your worries to God who cares for you

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). 

Day 14 Fear Not: The Lord’s ministering angels bring peace to those who trust Christ

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people’” (Luke 2:10). 

Day 15 Fear Not: God is with you, strengthening you and upholding you

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

Day 16 Fear Not: God doesn’t want you to suffer shame

“Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated” (Isaiah 54:4a).

Day 17 Fear Not: Practice being quiet before God; learn to be still in his presence

“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). 

Day 18 Fear Not: Jesus taught us not to fear people, but the God who cares for little sparrows

“I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.  But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.  Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.  Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows” (Luke 12:4-7).

Day 19 Fear Not: Trust God – he won’t frighten you!  He gives you power, love, self-control

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Day 20 Fear Not: Trust God who delights in you and bad news won’t scare you – you’ll overcome!

“Praise the LORD.  Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands… He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.  His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes” (Psalm 112:1, 7-8). 

Day 21 Fear Not: Call the Lord and he comes close and comforts your fears

“You came near when I called you, and you said, ‘Do not fear’” (Lamentations 3:57). 

Day 22 Fear Not: The risen Christ brings peace to those who are hiding behind locked doors

“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’” (John 20:19).

Day 23 Fear Not: Rely on God to “work in” you and then “work out” of you

“Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose” (Philippians 2:12b-13).

Day 24 Fear Not: To “fear God” is to worship him as glorious and holy

“Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy.  All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed” (Revelation 15:4).

Day 25 Fear Not: Even in suffering you are blessed if you do what’s right and look to God

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. ‘Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened’” (1 Peter 3:14).

Day 26 Fear Not: Like Paul, accept your weakness, rely on God’s grace, be made strong in Christ

“Three times I [Paul] pleaded with the Lord to take [the thorn in my flesh] away from me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ …That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:8-10).

Day 27 Fear Not: trust God to give you the words to say and you won’t fear public speaking

“Do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit” (Mark 13:11b).

Day 28 Fear Not: Step into God’s light – be true and honest – and he’ll empower you

“Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.  But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God” (John 3:20-21).

Day 29 Fear Not: Look to Jesus for the gift of the Father: the Spirit as your indwelling Comforter

“I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor [“Paraclete”: Comforter, Encourager, Advocate] to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth…  You know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.  I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you (John 14:16-18). 

Day 30 Fear Not: The Lord sets us free from fear by removing our punishment and our enemy

“The LORD has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy… Never again will you fear any harm… The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:15, 17).

Day 31 Fear Not: Prayer helps us to overcome our fears of sharing the good news of Jesus

“Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel” (Ephesians 6:19)
