Philippians 4:6 - Be anxious 4 nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with Thanksgiving, let your requests be made known 2 God;
You would probably have read this verse b4, but would u like 2 know how 2 apply it in your everyday life? Let me give u an illustration 2 help u.
Let’s say that u are one of those in your company eligible for a promotion and u will know tomorrow whether u get it. You want the promotion badly bcoz it means more income for your family. So u lie in bed at night tossing and turning. You pray, “Father, please take away all my worries about this promotion. Give me faith.” One hour later, u are more anxious than ever. It seems like God is not answering your prayer!
How come? Bcoz u are not doing it God’s way.
Pray like this instead: “Father, I cast all my worries about the promotion into Your loving hands because You care 4 me and love me.” The Bible tells us 2 cast all our cares upon the Lord for He cares for us. (1 Peter 5:7) Then, say, “Father, I would like 2 have the promotion.” It is okay 2 ask Him for that. Now, here comes the most powerful part — thanksgiving. Finish off with thanksgiving. Thank God for His faithfulness.
Say something like, “Father, whether I get the promotion or not, I thank You that You will always provide for my family with more than enough. You who feed the birds of the air and clothe the lilies of the field will take care of us. So I am not going 2 worry about this promotion. You are the source of all my blessings.” (Matthew 6:30, Philippians 4:19)
When u pray like this, all of a sudden, u are no longer held hostage by the promotion. I call this the “thank u” therapy. The more u know God’s Word, the more u can thank Him. The more u thank Him, the more His peace reigns in your heart. And many a time, b4 u know it, it is morning! You don’t even remember falling asleep. The peace of God reigns like that.
My friend, whatever your concern is, bring it 2 your Father in prayer and thank your way 2 peace!
=== When u find yourself in a position of misunderstanding or an altercation, your 1st instinct is 2 fight 4 the victim position so that u do not have 2 take the blame. But honestly if u do this, it will only make the problem worse. I call u 2 take the position of humility & integrity instead of trying 2 protect your tenuous & questionable innocence. Be the first 2 apologize 4 your part in the division, says the Lord, 4 in doing so u will be able 2 [[ defuse ]] the situation.
Matthew 5:23-26 "Therefore if u bring your gift 2 the altar, & there remember that your brother has something against u, leave your gift there b4 the altar, & go your way. First be reconciled 2 your brother, & then come & offer your gift.
Agree w/your adversary quickly, while u are on the way w/him, lest your adversary deliver u 2 the judge, the judge hand u over 2 the officer, & u be thrown into prison. Assuredly, I say 2 u, u will by no means get out of there till u have paid the last penny."
