Jesus and Ministering Angels

James W. GollThe Most Amazing History Lesson
A. Thoughts from Colossians 1:16 (NASB)
Paul, the beloved apostle, gave us great insight in Colossians 1:16: "For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things have been created through Him and for Him."

Jesus created all things, all spheres, and all powers. All things created both in Heaven and in earth have the same ultimate purpose – to serve God's purposes and to give Him glory!

B. 1 Timothy 3:14-16 (NASB)
Paul also gave us the following short, but unique, rendition of the Gospel message:

"I am writing these things to you, hoping to come to you before long; but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the Church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth. By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness:
He who was revealed in the flesh,
Was vindicated in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Proclaimed among the nations,
Believed on in the world,
Taken up in glory"
(1 Timothy 3:14-16, NASB).

Worshipping the Pre-Incarnate Christ
Some 700 years before the birth of Jesus at Bethlehem, in approximately 740 B.C., we find the prophet Isaiah in worship in the Temple (Isaiah 6:1-5). He was possibly mourning the death of King Uzziah. While there, Isaiah received angelic encounters, but ultimately his total attention was given to the One who was "high and lifted up" and whose glory filled the house.

As the veil between the temporal and eternal was parted, Isaiah was shown the worship of Heaven, including the burning seraphs who cried, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty." These angels covered their faces with their wings as an act of humility and worship. But, perhaps there is more here. The New Testament tells us (1 Timothy 6:16) that God dwells in "unapproachable light." Despite the incredible brightness that emanated from these angels themselves, they had to hide themselves in part from the radiant, piercing presence of light of God who is altogether holy!

This is but one of many pictures given to us of the angels in Heaven worshipping the pre-incarnate Christ. Indeed, it is awesome!

A. Declaring the Birth to Mary (Luke 1:26-38):
Gabriel makes a pronouncement to Mary that she has found favor with God, she will be with child, and that His name would be called Jesus – meaning "the Lord saves" or "the Lord is our salvation."
Mary then responds by asking how this will be since I am a virgin (verse 34). Verses 35 through 37 then record the most amazing conversation between this messenger angel and Mary, the one chosen. Mary believes and cries out, "Be it done to me according to your word" (Luke 1:38, NASB).

B. Announcing the Birth to Joseph:
Matthew 1:19-21, 24-25 (NIV) Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins."

...When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave Him the name Jesus.

C. Addressing the Arrival 2 the Shepherds:
Luke 2:8-14 (KJV) And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Ministering 2 Jesus While on Earth
A. His Early Infancy of Christ (Read Matthew 2:13-20)
B. His Wilderness Experience:
Matthew 4:11 (NASB) Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him
C. His Gethsemane Experience:
Luke 22:43 (Amplified) And there appeared to Him an angel from Heaven, strengthening Him in spirit.
D. His Crucifixion Experience:

Matthew 26:52-54 (Amplified) Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you suppose that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will immediately provide Me with more than twelve legions [more than 80,000] of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must come about this way?"

Serving at the Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus
A. Serving at His Resurrection:
Matthew 28:1-9 (Amplified) Now after the Sabbath, near dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to take a look at the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake,4 an angel of the Lord descended from Heaven and came and rolled the boulder back and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his garments as white as snow. And those keeping guard were so frightened at the sight of him that they were agitated and they trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, "Do not be alarmed and frightened, 4 I know that u are looking 4 Jesus, Who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, as He said [He would do]. Come, see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples, 'He has risen from the dead, and behold, He is going before you to Galilee; there u will see Him.' Behold, I have told u.

So they left the tomb hastily with fear and great joy and ran to tell the disciples. And as they went, behold, Jesus met them and said, "Hail (greetings)!" And they went up to Him and clasped His feet and worshiped Him.

B. Serving at His Ascension:
Acts 1:8-11 (NASB) "But u will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon u; and u shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. They also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into Heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into Heaven."

Descending at the Second Coming
The Scriptures declare that when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to earth visibly and physically, He will be accompanied by a host of angels. Consider:

A. Matthew 16:27 (NASB) For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels...
B. Matthew 25:31 (NASB) But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.
C. 2 Thessalonians 1:6-8 (NASB) For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus.

Exalting Christ Forever
One of the greatest ministries of angels is that of worship. They begin there, they do throughout the ages, and they end up doing this one magnificent thing throughout all eternity. They worship God! Angels exalt the Lamb.

Revelation 5:11-14 (NASB) Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing." And every created thing which is in Heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, "To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever." And the four living creatures kept saying, "Amen." And the elders fell down and worshiped.

Let us call out to God – that He would open our eyes to gaze upon what the angels see and worship the Lamb who is most worthy!

This outline lesson comes from the Angelic Encounters Study Guide, which has chapters that correspond to the book as well. There are also CD and DVD sets that accompany this class. I trust this will be inspiring and informative for you.

Blessings to You!

Carry Promise into 2012

Garris ElkinsVision of Buckets
Recently in a public worship service, the Lord revealed an image 2 me 4 the coming year. I saw the Church represented as a single person walking forward and carrying a large bucket in each hand. As we, the Church, approached the line that marked the passing of 2011 and the entrance into 2012, the Lord spoke and said, "Pour out the contents of 2011 and refill your buckets w/promise 4 the coming year."

Turning the buckets upside down, we proceeded 2 pour out the contents of the passing year upon the ground. When empty, we began refilling the buckets w/words of hope and promise 4 the coming season.

Then the Lord said, "These are the kinds of promises that My servant Paul wrote about 2 the Church in Ephesus – these are promises beyond your ability 2 imagine. These are promises birthed from My imagination. My imagination 4 u has no boundary or restriction."

We continued 2 walk forward w/buckets now filled w/promises for 2012 and beyond. The contents in our buckets started sloshing around and even spilling on the ground. We then crossed the line marking the entrance into the New Year. As we walked into this new dimension of time, the Lord spoke again and said:
"Now pour out these promises upon the soil of your family, your church and your city. I have planted supernatural seeds in the ground 4 this New Year that are not visible 2 natural sight. My seeds are thirsty 4 the water of My Word.

2012 will be a year of germination 4 things u thought were long dead. My seeds of promise are waiting and groaning 4 the word of faith u now carry. Pour out your buckets upon the New Year."

New Promises Being Revealed
As we began to pour out words of promise upon the bare ground, seeds not seen in the natural began to burst through the earth and reveal themselves. The water level in these buckets remained full even though the contents of the buckets were being poured out. It was like the feeding of the 5,000. A small child's lunch became a feast through supernatural multiplication. The more the buckets were poured out the more they were refilled.

It is time to empty our buckets of fear and doubt from our past. What we carry without faith and hope are stagnant buckets that do not reflect God's heart for us. New promises are being revealed. God is also asking many of us to review the promises He has made to us in past seasons. Some of these promises are so distant and buried in so much pain that they will be hard to retrieve or even re-imagine. Go after these promises. Find them and fill your buckets with His words of hope once again.
"Now 2 Him who is able 2 do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according 2 the power that works in us." Ephesians 3:20

God will also begin to pour into your bucket those things of His heart, those Ephesians 3:20 promises, that are beyond your ability to ask or think. These promises, once watered, will sprout and fill your field with works beyond your imagination in the coming year.

2012 will be a year of supernatural surprise. You will say, "I don't remember this promise. I don't remember planting that crop." God is about 2 show us the depth of His love in ways not yet realized in our imagination.

Today, empty your buckets of all fear, doubt and sorrow from past years. Don't wait for New Year's Eve to do this. Enter a time of worship today and allow the Spirit to speak through you and proclaim His Word and heart of promise into your bucket.

Walk confidently into 2012 – pouring out your filled buckets into your field of promise.

Create Your Daily Success Routine

CREATE YOUR DAILY SUCCESS ROUTINE ~

    Great  men have great habits.
In California, a powerful Spiritual leader awakens at 5:30 am each day.  He has followed this routine 4 years.  He prays from 5:30 to 6:30 am every morning of his life.  It is a daily habit--the success habit that has unlocked an unforgettable anointing 4 Teaching.  He walks, lives, and breathes the atmosphere of One 1000 Times More.  Is it a mystery?  Not really.  When your Daily Success Routine begins w/the 1st hour of every day in the Presence of God, it is almost impossible 2 fail.
One of the most famous business women on earth lives here in Dallas, Texas.  She is worth over 300 million dollars and her business is worth over 2 billion.  She has a Daily Success Routine.  Since 1962, she has written her daily plan on a sheet of paper.
She lists only 6 tasks 4 the day.
She works on the 1st, then the 2nd, then the 3rd, and so forth.  She believes that one of The Master Keys 2 her uncommon success is this constant and consistent daily habit.  Planning is her daily routine.
A former Presidential Chief-of-Staff revealed part of his Daily Success Routine.  The 1st thing he did every morning and the last thing he did every night was 2 'plan' the day of the President.  It was his habit.
One of the wealthiest athletes in history revealed a few weeks ago that the morning after he won the heavyweight championship of the world, he was back in his gym...his Daily Success Routine.  The morning after!  Millions of dollars were earned within minutes.  But, he knew and had decided 4 his life, the daily habits necessary 2 create the future he loved.
One famous Hall Of Fame baseball pitcher pitched his 7th no-hitter.  Afterwards, reporters found him in the locker room doing what he always did--riding a stationary bike 4 one hour and 15 minutes.  He had just pitched a no-hitter!  Did he race out and do something exciting and different?  He did not become a champion by chasing after every THOUGHT fleeting thru his MIND.  He became a champion thru his Daily Success Routine.  He had DEVELOPED the Habits 4 Greatness. [Hourly increments of TIME scheduled 4 specific personal assignments].
Habit is the most misunderstood word in the English language.  When someone talks about habits, everyone thinks about drugs, alcohol or smoking.  They think habit is a word connected 2 something evil, deteriorating or deadly.
Habit is a good word, a powerful gift from God.  Habit simply means that when u do something twice, it becomes easier.  It is a gift from God enabling us  succeed.
Personal hygiene habits increase your health, self-confidence and social influence.
Conversation habits strengthen relationships, build confidence and integrity.
Financial habits can create uncommon increase, yes, 1000 Times More.
    Discipline is different than habit.
God did not create us 2b creatures of discipline but creatures of HABIT.
The purpose of discipline is 2 birth a habit.
Psychologists say that when u perform an act for 21-Days consecutively w/o fail, it will become a habit.
Habits create a future u will love or hate.
Habit is the child of purpose, destiny and desire.  Let me give u an example.  When Mohammed Ali, the great boxer, believed that destiny and God had determined his future would be the greatest boxer on earth, his habits changed.  He arose earlier.  His workouts were more intense.  His conversation changed.  yes, he even changed his name!  You C, your habits are the results ofyour beliefs of what u truly believe u deserve 2 possess and have.
Desires birth habits.  Some who have smoked for 40 years quit in a week when the doctor revealed that they were standing at the door of death.
Thirty years ago, I sat at the table of a pastor friend in Louisiana.  I stared at him and asked, "How on earth did u become so huge?" (He weighed 400 pounds!)
"Eating every night after church just like u are eating right now," he said boldly.
I laughed.  I thought he was simply a little peeved at my bluntness.  But, he was sincere.  (Unfortunately, I stayed ignorant!)  What he really said 2 me was, "I have an eating routine.  Every night, after I have spent a long day in work and effort, I sit at this table and comfort myself w/food.  It is a habit in my life.  I did not begin this big.  It did not happen within a few days.  My habit of eating after church at night added a pound, another pound, and another pound."
Your habits have created your Present physical condition.  Whether u are overweight, unhealthy or uncommonly strong, what u keep eating daily is creating the You-In-The-Future.  When u eat is increasing your health or decreasing your health.
Your spending habits are creating a secure financial future or destroying it completely.  A friend of mine told me that a simple saving of $100 invested in mutual funds, every month...would result in a baby becoming a millionaire at 20 years old.  Just $100...monthly.  Habits create paupers or millionaires.

Open Doors Lead 2 New Rooms

Delta Doors
It has been 22 months since the Lord visited me with the strong message about "Delta" and "Doors." You may have noticed Paul Keith Davis' newsletter for August 2011 that was titled A Day of Open Doors. I find much encouragement through the revelations and writings of Paul Keith and I've noticed others have had "door" revelations in the past year. Still, my spirit has not been entirely at peace about this "door" message.

Passing through doors in the spiritual realm does not produce a change in circumstances without first producing a change within us. Doors represent transition. Transition is movement and movement often produces insecurity as we move from one balanced step to the next. In transition we often first pass through our expectations of what we think the change should look like. As the nature of change is to change us, the first thing often required is our expectation of what change should look like.

Let's go back about 6 weeks 2 the pivotal time of Rosh Hashanah. There was much spoken of and prophesied about this season: earthquakes, huge changes in church as we know it, etc...

Two Things to Understand
Some prophetic words have a Kingdom (spiritual) realization but their manifestation on this plane is delayed.

For example, I believe there has been a significant change in "how America does Church." That change presently is the Kingdom realm – the spiritual realm – and may not be visible and demonstrated until a cataclysmic event sets it off. The stage has been set, but to say the change has occurred would be like inviting thousands of people to a concert a week before the musicians arrive.

The other thing to understand is the limitations of our linear, Greek-style of thinking.

As American Christians we are hard-wired to believe that events occur in a rational sequence. B follows A, four follows three, and any change in the Spirit is simply an extension of where we have already been. We seem to equate spiritual progress with job promotions. But to do this is prophesying from our tip-toes and can lead to dangerous speculation. Where we are presently is not someplace the Body has been before, nor it is a mere extension of where we were. The Lord's idea of progress is not the same as ours.

Open Doors Lead to New Rooms
Imagine a large, beautiful house. You have dwelt in this house for a long time. Your favorite room has become your "living" room. You know how the light enters the windows during certain times of the day and seasons of the year. You have a favorite chair or couch on which to rest and you've decorated the walls with symbols of desires, values and memories. We have a particular room like this. It contains our wood stove, a brick chimney and wood box, a handmade bookshelf with a few hundred books, one La-Z-Boy chair, a couch, and rocking chair. On the walls are a number of pelts – bobcat, wolf, coyote and badger – a buffalo skull, a European mount of a whitetail buck, an L. A. Huffman print of South Sunday Creek, a framed Ezra Riley book cover, two framed Wally Badgett cartoons, and chaps and spurs hanging in a corner.

It is a comfortable room and very Western. It reflects who "we" are, or more precisely, who I am. Imagine as you sit in your comfortable room that you suddenly notice a door you'd not seen before. Curiously, you rise from your comfort, crack the door open, and peer inside. The new room is dimly lit, so you enter to take a better look and the door closes behind you.

The door is stuck hard, but not locked. If you truly want to return to comfort it's possible, but an inner compass settles and centers you. You look about the new room. To your senses, there is not much here to like. The room seems very bare and the shades on the windows are drawn, making the room almost dark. But you do notice the floor is hardwood and the ceiling seems higher than normal.

The room and its atmosphere is very clean as if prepared beforehand, but you desire more air and light. You pull the curtains back and open a window. There is a view before you that you've not quite seen before. It's your yard, your place, but from a different angle. The light and fresh air brings a warmth to the room and you see that the floor is even more beautiful than you'd thought. It glistens in the sunlight.

What this room lacks is a personal touch. The foundation and atmosphere reflects His handiwork, but the walls are bare. You must personalize this room with your sanctified values, dreams, desires, and memories before it is fully yours to occupy. But there is no rush to do this.

And the room is strangely silent. If you put your ear to the wall you would faintly hear prophetic voices describing "new seasons" and "new doors" coming from the room you'd just left but the voices now seem dim and hollow. They don't speak to you now.

The room needs music. But not any music. Not yesterday's music. It needs a music from within that you've never heard. The new room calls for a new response. You sense you have arrived at a deeper level and somewhere here is a new sound of worship. Something more fulfilling, more piercing and authoritative, yet, softer and sweeter than any sound you've known. As the sound grows in you it seems tangible, like a cloud of energy hungering for release. It is so large and so enlarging that you wonder if you can birth it and still live.

You are impressed 2 sit, relax and wait. Busyness alone won't enhance this room, in fact, mere busyness would degrade its atmosphere. This is a room where patience is embraced and where patience embraces in return. Peace is here. It's presence is close. You sit in the new room not knowing what comes next and not caring. We are impressed 2 simply sit on the floor. Relax and wait. Busyness won't change this room.

We must sit, wait, and allow our eyes to become accustomed to new light. This is where we are in the present season of new, open doors.

Acquaintance or Friend?

Luke HolterFriendship means understanding. Do you feel understood by God? Do you feel you understand God?

I was driving in my car a long while back and I was having a conversation with the Lord. I was talking to Him about what I perceived to be the level of expectation in my life from Him. I felt like I just couldn't measure up to what He was expecting of me. I finally asked in a pitiful cry, "What do u want from me anyway?" and He answered me back almost as soon as this question was out of my mouth, "I want 2b your friend, Luke, and I don't NEED anything from u, but I WANT your love and friendship."

This raised an interesting question because I was feeling judged by God even though at the core of who I am I didn't know what God really wanted from me. It's funny, because I assumed God felt a certain way about me, but it was an assumption based on religious performance and not true friendship.

So what does it mean to have a friendship with God? Most of us ask this question at different points of our lives... We have many different relationships, but not necessarily friendships.

Acquaintance or Friend?
Moses met with God face to face as one friend speaks with another friend. Jesus met with us on this planet in the form of a human being and spoke to us face to face. Then the Holy Spirit came and lives in us and speaks to us even now face to face as a friend. One major factor that all these have in common is this: they all came to reveal the emotions of God to the hearts of men.

When I began looking at being a friend of God, the Holy Spirit asked me this question: "Is the Lord an acquaintance or a friend to you?"

The word acquaintance means "a personal knowledge as a result of study." So do you know God from study or from personal interaction where emotions are exchanged?

We are in a covenant relationship with God, and if you break down those words "covenant relationship" you learn that the word covenant actually means "to promise by a pledge" and relationship is defined as "an emotional connection between two beings." So, covenant relationship means "to promise by a pledge to have an emotional connection with someone." Wow, that is a promise from God to you!

God's ability to love you doesn't rest on your efforts to never fail again, but rather His greatness and strength are what secure His love for you. Meaning, God secures His own love for you...

God is love and what is love if not the deepest, most meaningful aspect of friendship?

God's Glory Follows Friendship
The revelation of God's beauty is essential in our quest to live holy before God. We resist sin far better when God fascinates our hearts. There is no greater pleasure than when God reveals Himself to the human spirit. One of God's main weapons against sin is an army of people captivated by His glory.

To sit and meditate on what God has done is to behold His glory or His emotions. It's opening your Bible and gazing upon the works of God's hands throughout Scripture and allowing that to penetrate your heart.

In Exodus 33:9-10, Moses prayed to see God's glory. God answered Moses; God promised to proclaim His name to Moses. When God proclaimed His name, He was proclaiming His character and His personality. Most of you understand that the name of God represents His personality and His character. In other words, God promised to manifest His personality to Moses. The way in which God reveals His glory to Moses is by revealing His heart and His personality.

"You have people grasping for their own perception of greatness not seeing how far below the line they are falling. 'If I preach this way or say these things I'll be powerful'... this is not the case! Power and authority only come from true friendship with God... (see Acts 5:12-16)."

Everything Jesus did related to miracles, and signs and wonders were from the place of friendship.

We have an invitation to encounter God's emotions here on earth... to really be His friend now on earth. Some of us have been so good at being slaves that we never became friends (see John 15:15). Sinners were great at being friends with Jesus (see Luke 7:34), but it was the religious crowd that had a hard time being friends with Him (see John 8:39-47).

To be a friend is to believe Him, honor Him, and interact with Him. If there is no communion with God, then there is no real relationship and I would search my heart to see what I was reconciled to when I first believed. Was it a religious idea or was it God? Was it a list of impossible expectations? Was it a list of do's and don'ts? Or was it God? I invite everyone here to begin to search yourselves and ask these difficult and hopefully freeing questions.

Don't wait until the New Year to get this understanding! This is something the Lord is very passionate about right now. He is looking for friends that will answer His call in their lives. He is looking for friends whose works will be fueled by love not religious obligation.
